Advanced Laser Technologies

TECHNOLOGY · HOW IT WORKS

The coating absorbs the energy. The metal does not.

Laser cleaning and dry ice blasting remove what sits on top of a surface without grinding the surface itself. Here is what that means in practice, and where each one stops making sense.

01

Four principles

The same four hold for both technologies — they are what makes the process repeatable.

Absorption, not impact

The pulse is tuned so the layer to remove absorbs it and the substrate reflects or ignores it. Nothing hits the part mechanically.

Parameters on record

Power, frequency, speed and passes are fixed per substrate and written down, so a second intervention reproduces the first.

Test before production

Every job starts on a sacrificial area of your own part. If the result is not right, we adjust before touching anything that matters.

Extraction at the source

What comes off is captured and filtered at the point of contact. No enclosure, no abrasive to sweep up afterwards.

02

Laser, dry ice and sandblasting

The same surface-preparation job, three processes with very different consequences for the substrate, the facility and the budget.

REFERENCE VALUES
ADJUSTED PER PART AND COATING
CRITERION LASER CLEANING DRY ICE SANDBLASTING
Contact with the part None. No abrasion Soft pellet, non-abrasive Continuous abrasive impact
Effect on substrate No measurable thickness loss No wear; watch thermal shock Wear; deforms thin aluminium
Waste generated Dust only, extracted and filtered The removed layer only; CO₂ sublimates Spent sand, grit and sludge
Containment Confined area, no enclosure Confined area; ventilation required Containment enclosure
Masking Minimal. Zone by zone Minimal Full masking
Consumables None Dry ice pellets Abrasive, filters, nozzles
Layer selectivity Layer by layer, tunable Surface layer All or nothing
3-year cost Lower: no abrasive, no disposal Moderate: pellets only Higher: consumable + disposal

Operating conditions

What we need from your facility, and what we bring ourselves.

COND-01

Confined work area

A cordoned zone with controlled access while the beam is live. Other crews keep working outside it.

COND-02

Power and access

A standard industrial supply and a door the unit can pass through. The part stays where it is.

COND-03

Filtered extraction

We bring extraction and filtration. Removed material leaves as filtered dust, not as loose media.
